Geoff Morrell

Painter/Musician/Actor.

Since 1995, Geoff Morrell has made a name for himself as an artist who effortlessly crosses the boundaries between painting, sculpture and collage to create powerful and astonishing work. Reclaiming found materials such as pieces of old linoleum and discarded wood, Morrell cuts and splices them together - sometimes even including chopped up pieces of his own original paintings - reimagining these fragmentary pieces into abstract patterns, vast landscapes or evocative memories. Not all Morrell’s works are made in this way however - some of his original paintings have been spared this “butchering” process and survive intact.

“Through my multidisciplinary practice, I delve into the realms of abstraction, exploring the interplay between the subconscious mind and the elemental forces of nature. My work is deeply influenced by the medicinal properties of art, seeking to evoke emotional and spiritual impressions through textured compositions that resonate on both physical and metaphysical levels.

Drawing upon a diverse range of techniques and materials, I navigate the intricate landscapes of the mind, inviting viewers on a journey of introspection and self-discovery. Each piece is a testament to the transformative power of art, as I weave together layers of texture and color to create immersive experiences that transcend the boundaries of the canvas.

Informed by the natural world and the mysteries of the human psyche, my art serves as a bridge between the tangible and the intangible, inviting viewers to explore the depths of their own consciousness. Through abstraction, I strive to capture the essence of universal truths, revealing the interconnectedness of all things and celebrating the beauty of imperfection.”
